Welding Electrodes
Electrodes for mild steel are welding rods, used in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), that melt to join mild steel (low-carbon steel) components, creating strong, continuous bonds. Common mild steel electrodes include the E6013 for general purpose use on thin to medium thickness materials and the E7018, which produces a strong, ductile weld with good mechanical properties. Key factors in choosing an electrode are the specific application (e.g., general fabrication, repair, structural work), the thickness of the material, and the required welding position.
